Welcome to the EWCV Feed Assistance Pilot Program. We are excited to begin aiding accredited equine rescues in Virginia who house and care for equids seized by or surrendered to Virginia law enforcement jurisdictions. To become enrolled, please first complete the Feed Assistance PP Application. Once accepted, then use the Incident Report and Individual Intake forms as intake occurs. Finally, please use the Quarterly Equine Report each quarter after animals have received funding.

Program Information:

PLEASE NOTE:

  • This program assists in the feeding of ACO-surrendered or seized equids on a per-animal basis

  • Approval and awarded funding will be determined by submitted criteria, need, and available funds.

 

CRITERIA

  • Must be a 501c3 and have an EIN

  • Must be an equine rescue 

  • Must be Accredited by:

    • Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance

    • Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries

    • Equus pilot program with on-site visit

  • Only provided for ACO-surrendered or seized equids (no owner surrenders)

 

GOOD TO KNOW:

Grants are provided on a per head basis, we do not provide grants for capital improvements/

permanent structures (barn, fencing, sheds, etc.).

All grant applications must be complete.  

If a grant is awarded, the EWCV requires quarterly reporting on any animals who receive funding including the following:

  • Name or seizure ID, breed, age, sex

  • Body Condition Score

  • Feed and hay receipts

  • Photos before and after

  • Weight tape measurements

  • Other medical issues

  • Outcome: euthanized, died, adopted, into on site program, other
